[22:45] (Hellden> We have not performed any studies in patients with herpes encephalitis. But we ave helped the clinicians to make descisions whether to perform a hemodialysis or not.

[22:48] (gtorres> the crystallization in the tubules of ganciclovir can be prevented?
[22:50] (Hellden> I do not know about ganciclovir precipitation. Precipitation by acyclovir can be prevented by hydration and slow intravenous infusion.
[22:52] (MJesus> what are the consequences of this precipitation? stones ?
[22:52] (gtorres> expansion of volume, like all the tubular toxics?
[22:52] (Hellden> Patients with sever renal failure should have very low doses of oral acyclovir.
[22:54] (Hellden> Expansion of volume is good unless you have ESRD with the risk for volume overload.
[22:54] (gtorres> thanks
[22:54] (MJesus> thanks you...
