How was the new predection equation derived?

If it was derived by linear regression from the measurements in the 500 patients studied, then it needs to be validated in a different set of patients.

The cockcroft formula lacks of accuracy in the lower ranges of the creatinin clearances and it is therfore not recomended under 30 ml/min .Is the presented estimation of creatinin clearance superior in this segment of creatinin clearance.
